Time to Take This Journaling Thing Seriously

I have been meaning to journal for a while so I thought I'd finally just sit down and do it. Today was a good day. I dropped off the Hyundai this morning and mom picked up me up. I was surprised when Bandit appeared out of the back seat! On the way home on business 80 (there had been a wreck on 191) there was a train that struck a semi. I got home and took the time to apply to a job at OC. I'm not sure if I'll even like it; I don't want to start something and then just hate it after no time. If I'm going to work somewhere I want it to be somewhere I will love. I got the job application submitted and then went to CrossFit. I was a little bit late, but I was able to warm up and hop right into the warm up. Front squats were up first, so I hopped in with Hector. The workout was 5-3-1-5-3, and we are in the same ballpark on strength, but he is stronger than I am. We started at 225, which is heavier than I originally thought, but not too heavy to where I thought I couldn't do it or I might risk injury. When we got to the only set of  1 rep, I was going to do 265, but Hector peer pressured me into doing 275 ("it's just one!"), so I did. It was heavy but not terrible. That made for a PR, which I'm proud of. We then dropped back down to 245, which got me pretty good by the end. I was nervous about the 265 and I did the first two, but I was very unsure of the very last rep, but I went down nice and slow and really pushed extremely hard on the way up (to where my biceps were pushing!) and got it. I'm really proud that I was able to do something incredibly hard and not give in. We did the workout next, which was a 21-15-9-6-3 of thrusters (95lbs.) and lateral bar burpees, and my time was not great (I think I got 5th/6th place with a time of 15:24 or so). I broke the jump rope up into sets of 25, since we ended the workout with 200 dubs. I think that was a good strategy since 200 dubs seemed like a million. I probably should have taken shorter breaks. I need to work on my mental toughness by forcing myself to pick a rest time (i.e. 7 seconds) and then just sticking with it for the entirety of the workout. I, am, however, proud that I never broke on the thrusters. There were two other guys that should have been using the 95 lbs. bar but chose the 75 lbs. bar. One guy I actually beat to the jump rope and I was lifting 20lbs. heavier than him! I did my accessory work (4 sets of 7 pull ups and a 100+ m DB farmers carry @ 85 lbs.). I headed to the bank to deposit the cash I had earned from selling stuff on Facebook marketplace ($433.61) and went and got a haircut. I ate a late lunch, and was getting ready for a call with SFC Scarlett Martinez, who is a Career Counselor / Liaison at Camp Blanding in Florida with the  3/20th Special Forces Group (Airborne). I called a few times and no answer, so I decided to go pick up Heather at work. SFC Martinez called at that time, and asked if I could talk; I said I could, but I was loading up our dogs since I was headed to pick up my wife. I got on the road and we had a good ten or so minute conversation. She basically said, yes, I could attend the SFRE (although she said don't tell any of the Green Beret guys you are just "seeing where you're at" since they'll feel like you're wasting their time). She shared some other good information and said she is a resource should I have any questions. I'm excited about the prospect of attending an SFRE and seeing where I am at and beginning the journey of becoming a Green Beret. I need to run and ruck more, as well improve my land navigation skills. I will go ahead and fill out the application and we'll go from there. I surprised Heather with the pugs, and then we got our car at the dealership (thankfully we didn't have to pay anything) and Heather took Daisy and I took Zoe. Heather sent me this funny picture of Daisy in a seatbelt and emphasized pug safety; I told her Zoe was hanging out of my window! We were able to get home and head over to her parent's house for a night of fun! Rachel and Luke were over, and they brought Lucy. We had a good soup dinner, and played Call of Duty Six Black Ops, and we had a lot of fun playing this game where you hid as an object. That was oddly exhilarating. I'm glad I wrote this journal entry. I need to do one for every day.
